    Through the summer the whole family can enjoy Wainuiomata Pool’s recreation facilities. Wainuiomata’s large main pool, children’s, toddlers and learners pools, 80 metre open water slide, volleyball, basketball hoop, mini golf and barbeque area are all nestled among landscaped grounds, native bush and relax in the sun on the surrounding grass area.

    Wainuiomata Pool is the perfect place for the family, providing a welcoming opportunity to relax, enjoy, make friends, keep fit and have fun.

    The Emergency Management Office carries out the Emergency Management, Civil Defence and Rural Fire responsibilities for Hutt City Council. Main functions are risk reduction actions, preparedness planning, co-ordinating the response and the recovery from emergencies. Activities include public education and information, co-ordination of other emergency service, response and welfare organisations.

Community Houses

There are nine community houses around the City, which Council owns and physically maintains on behalf of the community. Management Committees made up of local people run the community houses, and most employ a co-ordinator.

Recycling / Refuse Collections

    The Hutt City Council administers a kerbside recycling and refuse collection service. For Coast Road residents, refuse bas are collected from the Wainuiomata Landfill gate. Collection day for Wainuiomata is Friday. Recycling bins and Hutt City Councill official refuse bags must be placed at the kerbside no later than 7:30am on Friday. Wainuiomata Recycling Station is located off Parkway and the Frederick Wise Park carpark, adjacent to the softball diamond.

    Hutt City Council operates Wainuiomata Landfill to ensure that residual waster is disposed of in an environmentally safe manner. Dimac Contractors Ltd runs the operation of the Wainuiomata Landfill. Wainuiomata Landfill is situated at Coast Road.
